Holme Lock

Following the announcement from the Prime Minister, private boaters may undertake short boating trips – avoiding use of locks and any staff-operated structures if possible – providing, as per current government guidance, they do not stay away from home overnight and return to their home mooring (where they have one).

Holme lock will continue to operate on a booked basis.

Please note that passage will only be possible on Mondays and Fridays between the hours of 11:00 and 13:00. You must book by 16:00 the day before you wish to travel through the locks.

We are keeping our response to this crisis under constant review and may change our position according to latest government advice.

Following the announcement from the Prime Minister (8.30pm, 23 March 2020) regarding the UK’s response to the coronavirus crisis, we are asking leisure boaters to stop all non-essential travel and not to visit their boats if they do not live aboard permanently.

This means that passage through Holme lock will be limited to essential movement to reach facilities or relocate, and will only be available on a booked basis.
