Description
Hackney Festival of Fitness will take place over 17-19 May at Hackney Marshes. The Lee Navigation will also host a range of paddleboard events over the course of the weekend.
These will include professional sprint races, amateur races and participatory canal clean-up classes and taster sessions. The racing is free to watch and tickets to the festival can be purchased here - https://uk.virginsport.com/event/hackney-2019/tickets
To ensure a safe event, 200m of towpath mooring is suspended between Bridges 15 and 16 from 17-20 May. A towpath diversion will also be in place.
There will be buoys in the navigation at the start and end points to guide paddle boarders, and marshals and safety boats will be on hand to manage traffic flow.
Cruising craft may need to wait for a short time at either end of the course while racing is taking place at the request of the racing marshals, who will advise when it is safe to proceed.
