We’re on track with getting the boat repaired, and will be in a position to provide a full update on re-opening the tunnel on Monday 13th November by 4pm.

The rescue boat is now at the repair yard waiting for removal from the water. We’re working hard to get the boat repaired and back in action by next week. Please refrain from making any bookings for Harecastle Tunnel until then.   We will provide a further update on Saturday 11th November.

Description

Please be aware we have had to close Harecastle Tunnel until further notice.

The rudder has snapped on the rescue boat and it requires an urgent repair. Unfortunately, we can’t have passages through the tunnel without this rescue boat, as it is specific to rescues for the tunnel. We are currently looking at alternatives for what we can do.

We will know more as soon as we have established the extent of the damage. Please look out for further updates.
