Whilst opening up the brickwork for the lock ladder extension, we discovered a historic timber tie back, thought to be left from a much earlier ladder. We've had to consult relevant authorities and design a completely new ladder setting, and this has resulted in the need for an extra week to complete the stoppage. The canal will now be closed until 22 March 2024. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Description
A stoppage is required to replace the bottom gates on Lock 7 & 8. We will also be carrying out lock ladder and brickwork repairs to Lock 8.
