Pumps at Tinsley Flight - Closure between Tinsley No 12 Lock to Victoria Quays

We are experiencing technical issues with the pumps at the Tinsley Flight and, after considering various options, we are unfortunately having to close the navigation to allow the dewatering and investigation of the pump well, remove debris and install new pumps. We appreciate that a 6 day unplanned closure at this time of year is not ideal however the alternative is to accept the high risk of complete failure of the pumps before winter, which would result in a longer closure, so we consider a closure now to be the best option.

The works will also result in low water levels between Lock 1 and Victoria Quays.
