Whaddon Lane Bridge to Hilperton Marsh Bridge

The towpath under closure HILP31 has been repaired and is now open ahead of schedule. Thank you for your patience.

Joint statement from Wiltshire Council and Canal & River Trust

 Due to some urgent repairs being required, we have closed a stretch of the towpath on the Kennet & Avon Canal.

 The location of the affected area is on the west side of the Whaddon Lane Bridge, Hilperton (path HILP31). 

 We are working together to ensure the repairs are carried out as soon as possible, and we apologise for any inconvenience and disruption caused while these essential works take place.

 In the area there is a bridleway on the south bank of the canal and a footpath connecting that back to the canal, so we encourage people to use this as a temporary diversion route.

 We will clearly mark the affected area so people should be aware of what route they can and cannot access.

 We thank everyone for their patience and will update on the timescales of the repairs as soon as we can.
