Lock 36, Tardebigge, Worcester & Birmingham Canal.

Please be aware that work to replace the lock ladder at Lock 36 will now begin on 26th February 2018 and will finish at the same time as other works on the Tardebigge flight, 16th March. 

This change in date is to allow the upstream wharf to be used more effectively as a base for both the Trust’s team and contractors who will be working throughout the flight during its closure from 2nd January to 16th March. 

The navigation window on 20th/21st January 2018 will not be affected.

The stoppage has been extended by one week to take advantage of other closures in the immediate area and so allow contractors more time to complete the ladder replacement works.

To remove the existing lock ladder and replace with a new ladder to give a greater tread depth, thereby improving customer safety.  The lock chamber needs to be fully de-watered to enable the ladder to be removed and replaced.  The depth of the recess will be increased by cutting into the existing lock wall.
