The Education team have recently been a winning partner in the best Educational Initiative category at the Museums & Heritage Awards.

Leeds Curriculum - Museums & Heritage Awards

The project, called the Leeds Curriculum and led by Leeds Museums is a one-stop resource for primary school teachers across the region. Hosted online via MYLearning.org, the Leeds Curriculum features 50 ‘stories’ taken from the city’s rich cultural history which can be used by teachers to deliver exciting lessons in the classroom.

The city wide primary school curriculum aims to connect children to the arts and culture of their city. The Trust’s contribution was led by North East education coordinator Claire Cavendish. We developed activities linked to the Boxing Day floods that overtook the city in 2015, including interviews with affected business owners and activities that got children to think about what they would do if a flood hit again. The resources are now being used by schools across the whole city and will be available for every primary school child in Leeds to access.
