Explorers go global!

In July, our fantastic Explorers volunteers took part in an exciting visit to Hatton Locks with a group of Caribbean Scouts.

Caribbean Scouts

The volunteers led our Build a Canal activity, introducing the Scouts to canals in England and what they were originally used for. The group were fascinated by the importance of transporting cargoes by boat through the canal and river system. Many of the students didn’t know what canals were or how they were built, and some had never seen a river before, so it was an educational day all round.
