Grantham Canal is a great site for wildlife and habitats as well as local history studies. Since the Grantham Canal closed to boating in 1929 it has been reclaimed by nature and is a valuable wetland habitat, with much of the canal designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, home to a rich diversity of wildlife.
