The Big Green Draw: A Climate of Change

The Big Draw Festival is a worldwide celebration of drawing!

2020 marks the 20th anniversary of The Big Draw and the campaign which shines a light on the need for drawing – making a mark with meaning – and its role as a tool for expression, creativity, learning and sharing ideas.

The theme for the festival is The Big Green Draw: A Climate of Change which focuses on the relationship between people and our living environments and ecosystems; highlighting how we live today and the ways in which we do and do not harmonise with nature.

At Canal & River Trust we believe that life's better by water and studies show that visiting canals and rivers can make us feel happier and healthier too. Our canals and rivers run through some of the most heavily populated communities in England and Wales, providing accessible green and blue space where it's needed the most.

The activities in this learning bundle encourage children to think about their local canal, how it has changed over time and how it might look in the future with the effects of climate change. We want children to draw, explore and get out and about as they imagine a canal for the future.

We'd love to see your sketches and ideas, share them with us on the Explorers Facebook and Twitter pages with #BigGreenDraw and #ClimateofChange
