Dating from 1784, and once a busy workplace for blacksmiths, forgers, boat builders, farriers and later carpenters, the Wharf and its now Grade II-listed buildings have been restored into a canalside heritage hub on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.

Children take a guided audio tour of the site and help with tasks to discover what each building was used for. Build a Canal An immersive session to explore how and why canals were built and how the Leeds & Liverpool Canal was built and how it shaped the local landscape. Children will dress up as characters and use a sandpit to construct their very own canal route.
