Our education visits to Etruria have been specifically designed to help your class or group learn while having lots of FUN! These visits are led by Canal & River Trust, Etruria Flint Mill and Etruria Boat Group. Education volunteers from all three partners lead enjoyable and inspiring workshops at Etruria. Your class will take a stroll along the towpath to learn how locks work, step back in time meeting characters from Etruria Flint Mill and when available, step onboard a Heritage Boat.
Workshops
Our workshops and resources are linked to the National Curriculum and include topics such as Local History, STEM, Art & Design, Canals and Rivers and Water Safety.
Your class will enjoy a guided walk exploring both the Trent & Mersey Canal and the Caldon Canal. Children learn about our engineering heroes James Brindley and Josiah Wedgwood and discover how locks work.
Discover how materials were transported to and from the potteries by boat. Find out how people look after the canal today and protect the environment for its growing wildlife.
This visit offer is for KS1 & 2 children. Our visits run from April to October half term. They are available one day per week, during term time.
Due to the limited space we are only able to offer this to one class/30 children per visit.
