This role is to coordinate existing and new volunteers as visitor guides at the museum and events.
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals to help engage more volunteers as museum visitor guides and to work with staff in developing this opportunity and activity at the museum and at events.
This role will involve working alongside staff to assist in preparing, promoting, leading, delivering and evaluating volunteering tasks and individual volunteers at the museum. It will also involve assisting in the recruitment, induction and development of volunteers in undertaking guided tours around the Museum and Gloucester Docks. You will also help organise and co-ordinate the rota for guided tours, as required by the staff lead, and ensure all hours undertaken in such duty are accurate and sent to the volunteer administrator for recording.
This is a responsible role with a lot to offer the right person, as such an appropriate selection process is in place.
You will gain a strong set of skills and experience, ideal for those looking to gain experience in events and historical interpretation, and increase their employability, or those keen to put existing skills to good use and pass on the benefits active volunteering can bring to others .You will be responsible for building a successful team of volunteers. You will be supported by Canal & River Trust in training and development to help you achieve this.
You will be working for an exciting and dynamic organisation which is responsible for the Museum which has been accredited by the Arts Council.
To have undertaken a training course with the Museum Curator and an external museum interpretation consultant.
