Activities: Education volunteers
Closing Date: 31 December 2018
Crofton, Kennet & Avon Canal, Wiltshire
We are looking for volunteers to help develop and establish a new school and family learning programme at Crofton Pumping Station near Marlborough. This fantastic site is home to the 200 year old beam engine alongside the Kennet & Avon Canal and is a perfect setting for school groups to learn about our industrial past. We are particularly keen to develop exciting hands-on activities to help children understand the importance of the beam engine, the lives of the people who used to work here and the rich heritage and wildlife of this canalside location.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a newly established creative team and work in a beautiful location. You will find the process of developing new resources and showing children around the site very rewarding. You will have the support of an education officer and help from existing Explorers education volunteers based at nearby locations. All travel costs will be reimbursed.
Previous experience of working with young people in either the primary or secondary sector
Experience of creating and delivering hands-on learning resources for children
The ability to enthuse young people through talks and activities
The ability to volunteer flexibly particularly during school term times.
