A boat of your own
Our waterways are suitable for many different types of boat from canoes and rowing boats to substantial vessels that just fit a waterway’s maximum dimensions
You’ll already know which part of the spectrum you’re going for, but before making any decision, do your research carefully. Boat ownership is a big responsibility and unless you’re already a seasoned canal or river boater, there will probably be considerations you weren’t aware of.
Use our guide to owning a boat of your own to avoid making expensive or painful mistakes. If you haven't quenched your thirst for all things boating after reading our guide, you might like to take a look at the boating section on the Inland Waterways Association website. It's packed with lots of useful information and has a pile of other interesting content such as the inspiring waterways under restoration section.
Boaters' survey
Every couple of years we carry out a survey of boat owners. Questions range from the number of hours spent cruising to the type of contact boaters have with our customer service team.
