Volunteer Lock Keeper 2021 - Stone, Trent & Mersey, Staffordshire
Activities: Practical, Outdoors, Regularly
Stoke-on-Trent, Trent & Mersey, Staffordshire
The Canal & River Trust's motto is "Making Life Better By Water" and Lock Keepers play a crucial role in this. Whether it's helping boaters through locks, helping to look after the area around the locks, talking to customers or litter picking, it can really make a great difference to a visitor's experience of the canals in Stoke. Anyone can join as long as you are over 18. We will provide all the necessary training, equipment and support.
What's in it for you?
It's a great way to meet other local volunteers, get outdoors, learn new skills, and hear about other Canal & River Trust volunteering opportunities, if you fancy getting more involved!
What skills are we looking for?
No particular skills are required as we will make sure you are shown what to do and buddied up with experienced lock keepers til you are fully confident in the role. It is more important that you have a friendly and helpful manner, get on with people easily and can work in a team. If that's you, we would love to hear from you!
