Red Bull, Trent & Mersey Canal, Stoke-on-Trent
Our canals and rivers are quite literally national treasures, local to the communities that they flow through and we want everyone to get involved with their waterways.
One of the ways that you could choose to do this is by volunteering with us, and this could be the opportunity that you are looking for. Combining a mix of site visits and desk-based tasks, the role of ‘Post Works Records Assistant’ may suit you if you have a background in engineering or construction, or are studying towards a qualification in this area.
We require an enthusiastic volunteer to visit a range of work sites across the beautiful North Wales & Borders and Manchester, Pennine & Potteries Waterways to ensure that works have been completed to the Brief/Works Information package, you will also need to be handy with a camera as we will require ‘as-built’ photographs and other post-works information specified by our Engineers.
• Graduates or Students: bolster your CV with hard skills, experience and mentorship
• Working or retired Engineers / Construction Professionals: come and share your wisdom and make a lasting contribution to our UK waterways.
• Personal Protective Equipment and out-of-pocket expenses, such as mileage costs will be covered
• To offer you a wide range of rewarding experiences and allow you to broaden your skills there will also be the opportunity of incorporating this role with various other volunteering tasks as / when available.
The role will involve visiting sites not always easily accessible by public transport, and there will be some physical activity involved, but there is also a chance to get involved in the office too. Giving at 1-2 days per week to this role, you will be based at our Red Bull office, after a successful informal meeting with the recruiting team and collection of references.
This task will suit someone who has good computer skills (including GIS, although we may be able to offer some basic training in this area) and be comfortable working both independently and with a range of staff including our Engineering team. Due to the location of the sites, you will need to be able to regularly access reliable transport.
Due to this task involving site visits to remote locations we would also be happy to consider applications from those who would like to volunteer with a friend, partner etc, so if this sounds like your kind of role please contact us for more information.
