Activities: Office-based, Other specialist roles, Outdoors, Recording and monitoring, Regularly
Closing Date: 15 June 2018
It goes without saying that water is critical to our network! If you have an interest in water management (ideally from a background in physical geography/hydrology/environmental sciences) we may have the voluntary role for you. We have a mix of office based and field work tasks available that will allow you to volunteer alongside our hydrologists, modellers and engineers on a high profile project to secure abstraction licences under the Water Act 2003. As well as crunching data and carrying out research, you will also have the chance to accompany hydrologists to feeder sites across England and Wales to assist their work. We can offer opportunities on a regular or more ad-hoc basis, until the end of 2019.
We imagine that this role could be of particular interest to those currently studying or seeking work experience, but this is not exclusively for students or recent graduates. Either way we can offer the chance to get involved in a busy project with some training on myMapII and/or ArcMap alongside field work. It is a challenging role but you will get back what you put in, and we can cover out of pocket expenses.
Essential skills include knowledge of Microsoft Office, and ideally a background in physical geography, hydrology or environmental sciences. If you have some experience of basic fieldwork that would be ideal, but this is not essential. You will need to have access to reliable transport, and if you want to be office based (we can offer some tasks from home) you will need to be within easy reach of our Hatton (Warwick) office. There will also be the chance to get involved in fieldwork across England and Wales. For a more detailed task description please get in touch.
