Activities: Outdoors, Regularly, Working with visitors
Did you know 14 million people visit one of our waterways each year, and many of these come along to one of the range of festivals and events which take place across London's waterways each summer.
We are looking for volunteers to help support the delivery of family activities at events, open days and festivals at locations across London and Hertfordshire. The role will include helping with welcoming visitors, leading craft activities talking to and supporting families with activities and assisting with setting up and packing down at events.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in the visitor experience, ensuring event and festival audiences of all ages, enjoy themselves and leave following their time with us with a greater understanding and affinity to the waterways.
We are looking for volunteers who can assist with at least 6 events throughout the summer months, these will be mainly at weekends and at various locations across London and Hertfordshire.
This is a chance to gain experience working with children and families or to put your existing skills to great use. You will be part of a team delivering exciting and entertaining waterway events and your support will introduce children and families to our canals and rivers. You will build social skills through a variety of interactions and use skills in arts and crafts to get creative!
We will provide an induction programme and cover resonable travel expenses.
We’re not looking for people who are experts in the nation’s waterways but we are looking for people who are hands on, friendly and approachable and can have fun meeting families and enjoy their time delivering children’s crafts and activities.
Experience of teaching or working with children or families would be great but is not essential. You will need to enjoy working in a team, have good communication and customer service skills when dealing with all ages and be happy to volunteer in a busy and often noisy environment!
