We are looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals to coordinate and lead our expanding volunteer teams in Asset Delivery, our planned works team, whose tasks include moving boats, lock & towpath repairs, bank protection and maintaining heritage structures.
As a Lead, you'll work alongside staff and other volunteers to plan, deliver & celebrate volunteering across the North Eastern waterways and particularly on the Aire & Calder Navigation. In return for a regular commitment of your time, you get an opportunity to gain experience, put your skills into practice, ensure the smooth running of volunteer activities, and give our volunteers the best experience possible.

A strong set of skills & experience, ideal for those looking to gain practical work experience and increase their employability. Dedicated training and networking is an essential part of the role, and you'll be supported by existing Lead volunteers and staff as you develop your skills. With a wide range of projects across Aire & calder, Knottingley & Goole canals, t's a great way to explore your local waterways and meet lots of new people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Strong people skills, including patience, listening and the ability to respond to volunteers' needs
Good organisational skills
Enthusiasm for the waterways and the Trust's valiues
Good understanding of health & safety principles
Experience of working on practical tasks such as landscaping, hedgerow management, brickwork & building conservation
Experience of volunteering, especially working in a team
Comfortable with IT
