We are looking for volunteers with a background or interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) who love working with children and young people and would like to encourage their interest in STEM via the canals by taking part in school visits, workshops and visits to the waterways.
Deliver STEM workshops to schools, including KS3
Attend STEM events
Support in planning of STEM events
Assist in developing further STEM activities
This is a great opportunity to be part of a brand new education team with newly developed education resources, and to share your enthusiasm about STEM and the waterways.
We will provided you with resources and full training on how to work with groups of children, and you’ll have the support of a STEM education coordinator.
We will reimburse you for all travel costs.
Previous experience of working with children and young people or a desire to gain experience
Background or interest in STEM, including the ability to understand KS3 STEM curriculum.
We are ideally looking for people who are flexible as volunteering time will depend on school requests, but we would like people who can commit at least 3 or 4 days a month.
The confidence to talk to, and lead workshops with groups of children
The ability to enthuse young people through talks and activities
The ability to volunteer flexibly
The ability to travel to different schools and locations
