Birmingham & Fazeley Canal, West Midlands
Join our Towpath Taskforce Greener Birmingham Team on the first Wednesday of each month for a practical session, between 10am and 3.30pm on the canals around the centre of Birmingham. The scope of the team is to greatly improve the visitor experience with the City Centre, out towards Icknield Port and the Cube.
The work will be varied and wide ranging but focused mostly on improving the green corridor along the canal with fruit trees, flower borders, herb gardens, planters, and such we also want to improve wildlife habitats with bird and bat boxes reed planting etc.. There will be tasks for all abilities and ages and as always we will be supplying gloves, high vis and all the tools.
Please wear suitable outdoor clothing which you don’t mind getting dirty and sturdy footwear. We can provide warm drinks, but you may also want to bring your own flask or water bottle along with a packed lunch or snack depending on how long you’re staying.
It's a great way to meet other like-minded volunteers and get to hear about other volunteering opportunities if you fancy getting more involved.
No special skills are needed for the day and everyone works at their own pace. If you've got specific skills that you think may be helpful, please let us know.
