Meanwhile Gardens, Grand Union Canal Paddington Arm, London
Be part of a major new artwork at Meanwhile Gardens on the Grand Union Paddington Arm!
Meanwhile Hydrosiren is a floating, acoustic sculptural boat that will be moored at Meanwhile Gardens in Kensal Town from 14-28 October. Created by artist Professor Simeon Nelson, it will play a soundscape by composer Rob Godman that takes inspiration from the inhabitants of the gardens, canal and the local community.
We are looking for volunteers to be based on the towpath during perfomarnces to welcome visitors, talk to people about the project and help manage the towpath area to ensure all visitors (walkers, cyclists and spectators) are able to use the area safely.
Performances will take place from 4-6pm on the 14th (launch event), 15th, 17th, 19th, 21st, 22nd, 24th, 26th and 28th October. Ideally you will be able to help at a minimum of three of the performances. A full inducion session with the artist will be given.
An opportunity to be an integral part of major public art project which will encourage people to visit and celebrate one of the capital’s best-loved urban community gardens, the Meanwhile Gardens.
This is the chance to have a positive impact on your local waterway; helping visitors and other local people to value and appreciate it.
Volunteers will receive an induction with artist Simeon Nelson. A branded top or high visibility vest will be provided and we will reimburse reasonable travel expenses.
We are looking for volunteers with enthusiasm for arts on the waterway, who want to share that enthusiasm with others.
You'll need to enjoy meeting people and sharing your knowledge, as well as having the patience to deal with all towpath users and to talk to all the people who will want to talk to you.
Ideally you will be able to assist with at least three of the performances, more would be great!
