Activities: Customer service, Recording and monitoring
Are you looking for a flexible volunteer experince which will help improve the visitor experience at our mooring sites across London? We’re introducing Visitor Mooring Rangers at various location across London to provide a welcoming information service to mooring customers and record information about boats using the mooring.
This is an opportunity to be the welcoming ‘face’ of the Canal & River Trust. You will be on hand to provide visitors with useful information about the local area, the Trust and our boating services; keep our information boards up to date; record boat index numbers to help us assess the most popular stay times for our mooring strategy and be our 'eyes and ears' on your patch.
Locations will include: the Olympic Park, Three Mills, Victoria Park, Broadway Market, Islington, Kings Cross, Little Venice & Padington, Kensal Green, Willesden, Alperton, Cowley and Uxbridge.
The opportunity to volunteer in some unique locations, meet new people and contribute to our planning of boater services. If you’ve got a passion and interest in the waterways, you can share it with others or if you enjoy pointing people towards the local pub or chippie, you’ll be able to do this as well.
Being active in the same area regularly will give scope for building rewarding local relationships and getting involved in exciting local projects.
We will provide relevant safety advice, a uniform and necessary equipment. Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses can be claimed.
A friendly, helpful manner and the ability to communicate clearly and diplomatically with a wide variety of different people is essential.
Some knowledge of the local area, boating or boating services is desirable but not essential as support will be given.
You’ll need some flexibility, be able to give a minimum of an hour per week (this could be day time, evenings or at the weekend) and be happy to work on your own or with others.
Enjoyment of working outdoors is important, whatever the weather!
