Sheffield & Tinlsey
Join us on the first Saturday, second Friday or fourth Tuesday of every month between 9:30am and 2pm for an enjoyable day’s work on the beautiful Sheffield & Tinsley Canal near Victoria Quays. Tasks will vary and change with the seasons – tasks could include lock maintenance, painting, vegetation management, planting, towpath repair, wildlife habitat improvements and much more. All tools and equipment will be provided, together with expert and friendly support and refreshments. Volunteer Team Leader, Anthony Walker will be delighted to see you there. Please feel free to attend any or all sessions.
Towpath Taskforces are for individuals who want to volunteer with the Trust. If you are looking to join us with a team of colleagues from work or community group, please see our Volunteering in Partnership pages (https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/volunteer/volunteer-in-partnership) or contact the Trust on email@example.com so that we can discuss a partnership
The Towpath Taskforce offers a great way to meet other local Trust volunteers and staff, learn new practical skills, hear about other volunteer opportunities or just spend a few hours outdoors improving your local waterway environment.
Regular opportunity to work onboard the Naburn, historic workboat recently refurbished by volunteers.
No experience is needed but please sign up below. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll receive a welcome email that includes a registration form.
After you are registered you will receive an email with the full address of the meeting point for the next taskforce session, along with helpful information and the volunteer team leader’s contact details.
All safety procedures and work instructions will be given on the day, you just need to be willing to get stuck in and get dirty. We advise that you wear old clothes and protective footwear if you have some.
