Canal and River Trust's Asset Management team is offering a great opportunity to expand your knowledge of civil engineer and asset management, within an iconic waterway environment. We are seeking a volunteer to be involved with caring for the Trust's 2000 miles of waterways and their associated structures, from bridges and locks to sluices, weirs and aqueducts. Support is required with data management, inspections, raising notifications in SAP and creating works information packages for the asset management process. Based at our offices in Milton Keynes, ideally you will be able to volunteer for 8 weeks to get the most from this opportunity.
This is an ideal role for anyone with an engineering background who wants training and experience.
Based within a dedicated team, you will gain a unique insight and experience into how the Trust's waterways function from an asset management viewpoint, whilst supporting the ongoing maintenance of a 200 year old network using innovative 21st century techniques. The volunteer will gain experience in asset inspections and managing the outputs from inspection reports. In house SAP training will be provided with a focus on notifications. A great way to enhance your career within civil engineering or to put something back into the industry. PPE will be provided and out of pocket expenses. You will gain experience working within a waterway environment including site visits and length inspections after an initial period of office based activities.
Experience/Knowledge of civil engineering, a proficiency with data entry and SAP familiarity are desirable along with access to own vehicle.
