Pocklington Canal

We’re looking for people who can commit to volunteering for one (or two) days per week for a six-week period between 18th April and 26th May 2017 to help restore Church Bridge on the Pocklington Canal.
You’ll be trained up by a professional heritage brickwork specialist, and then will work as part of a small team under his supervision to carry out the repairs needed on this Grade Two Listed bridge. Some prior experience of lime mortaring would be useful but not essential. Places are limited, so we may not be able to take everyone who is interested. The days will start at 9:30am and run until 4:00pm.
This role in part of the Heritage Lottery Fund supported project, ‘A Gem in the Landscape’.

You'll get training up by a professional brick restoration expert, and the satisfaction of working to restore the most iconic bridge on the Pocklington Canal.

We'd like for these volunteers to use their newfound skills to help with the ongoing restoration efforts along the Pocklington Canal, which are being carried out by the Pocklington Canal Amenity Society.

Skills required

Some previous experience would be beneficial, but not essential.

Please let us know which days you would be interested in volunteering on when you register an interest.
