Stanstead Lock, River Lee, Stanstead St Margarets

Roll up your sleeves and get some fresh air! We'll be cleaning up the leaves, collecting litter and cutting back the vegetation to smarten up the towpath at this popular spot on the River Lee. Meet at 10am by Stanstead Lock opposite the Lee and Stort Cruising Club, SG12 8DR. The nearest station is St Margarets (Herts). The event will run from 10am-3.30pm, hot drinks will be provided, please bring a packed lunch.


Towpath Taskforce is a great way to meet other local volunteers and the Canal & River Trust Volunteer team, learn new practical skills, hear about other volunteer opportunities or just spend a few hours outdoors improving your local waterway.

Skills required

There are no skills required for this task and all safety procedures and work instructions will be given on the day; you just need to be willing to get stuck in and get dirty. Please wear old clothes appropriate for the weather conditions and sturdy footwear such as work boots, walking boots or wellies.
