We’re looking for friendly and approachable volunteers to join the Visitor Ambassador team at Ware Welcome Station. This is an opportunity to be the ‘face’ of the Canal and River Trust, playing a key role in the enjoyment of the visitor experience and ensuring that they leave with a greater understanding and appreciation of the waterways.
The role involves being on hand to talk to visitors, increasing their understanding of the work that the Canal and River Trust carries out and to answer any queries they might have. There is also the option to get involved in helping to look after the area around Ware from towpath improvements and vegetation work to litter picking and painting.
We are ideally looking for people who can give a day a week to the role, this could be a weekday or weekend.
This is a chance to volunteer at a beautiful location on the River Lee and make a real difference to your local waterway and the people who visit it. You'll be with other likeminded volunteers, and you get to meet a wide range of visitors and locals too.
If you have got a passion or interest in the waterways you can share it with others, or if you enjoy meeting new people then this role is right for you.
The role can also work well for couples or friends to work together.
All you need is a positive attitude and the ability to communicate with others as well as being able to work in a team.
The role may involve opening and securing the building and helping to maintain the surrounding area.
