If you are keen to support the maintenance of your local waterway and help promote the Trust, then why not come along and join the G&S Workparty group. Our volunteers meet regularly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to undertake low maintenance tasks with support from our local operations team that include repairing towpaths, painting bridges and building fences as well as keeping the canals clean and tidy.
Various locations on the Gloucester & Sharpness canal from Purton to Gloucester
Join a friendly bunch of volunteers, some with years of experience and some who are fresh to the canals. Learn new skills and help sustain the canal for local people. If you would like to have a taster session prior to joining the group on a regular basis or are only able to offer your support on an ad hoc basis let us know and we will accommodate you on one of the regular sessions.
Whilst there are no specific skills required to get involved in this opportunity it is useful to have some practical knowledge and an enthusiasm to undertake practical tasks is a bonus. All safety procedures and work instructions will be given on the day so you just need to be willing to get stuck in.
