At our office at Fradley Junction, we are looking to expand our team of reception/greeter volunteers to help things run smoothly and give our customers a good standard of customer service. Canal & River Trust is the organisation that care for 2,200 miles of the country's canals & rivers and licenses thousands of boats every year. As a volunteer you'll be situated at the front desk where you will be the first point of contact for our visitors so you'll need to have good communication skills and a winning smile. You will deal with face-to-face general enquiries and sign post visitors in the right direction.
We need volunteers to join our friendly team at Fradley and can give ideally four hours a day for one or two days a week (weekdays and weekends).
We’re not looking for people who are experts in the nation’s waterways but we are looking for people who are friendly and approachable and know who to ask if they don’t know the immediate answer.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain customer service experience. Also, the opportunity to volunteer in a unique location and meet new people. If you’ve got a passion and interest in the waterways, you can share it with others or if you enjoy pointing people towards the local pub or chippie, you’ll no doubt be able to do this as well.
It’s very satisfying at the end of the conversation when people leave with a smile of ‘thanks’.
Cheerful customer friendly disposition.
The ability to communicate effectively, to gauge the right level of information they’re looking for and to supply it in an efficient and friendly manner.
The role may involve opening and securing the building and keeping the Reception/Welcome Station clean and presentable.
We'd love to hear from you if you're interested in finding out more about this opportunity.
