Macclesfield Canal

What's involved?

Macclesfield Canal Society have adopted a stretch of canal in Macclesfield, working with the Trust to actively care for and improve this area. They meet on the first Wednesday of the month at Bridge 40 (off Windmill Street) at 10am (unless indicated by email prior to event). The work can entail a mixture of tasks that vary on a week to week basis but include, litter picking, minor towpath repairs, light vegetation clearance, planting of trees and shrubs and maintenance and painting of canal side furniture. Details of the dates planned in the near future can be found on their website link.

What's in it for you?

The Canal Society is a friendly bunch of people who always welcome new members. It's a chance to meet like-minded people making a difference in their community. These volunteering days are outside and a great way to enjoy the environment, keep fit and meet new people. Please wear clothing that you don't mind getting dirty and sturdy footwear.

What skills are we looking for?

There are no specific skills needed but the Society welcomes a range of skills if you're willing to give them.
