What's involved?
Join our brand new team of education volunteers covering Huddersfield and Halifax. We lead school, Brownie & Cub groups on waterway visits as well as running sessions in the classroom. All of our sessions are designed to inspire young people in the waterways, heritage and geography of the local area as well as links to science and wildlife.
What skills are we looking for?
For roles working with children we are looking for volunteers who have
. Previous experience of working with children
. The desire to work outdoors
. The confidence to talk to, and deliver workshops with groups of children
. The ability to enthuse young people through practical activities
. The ability to volunteer flexibly
. The ability to drive to different locations
. The ability to work independently or within a team
This role involves regulated activity with children and adults at risk, as defined by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Therefore, an Enhanced Criminal Record check will be undertaken and references will be sought. A criminal record is not necessarily a bar to volunteering with us.
What will you get from us?
We provide you with resources and full training on how to lead groups of children at this specific location as well as in a more traditional classroom environment. You will have the support of an education officer as well as the other volunteers in your team. We reimburse you for all travel costs.
