What's involved?

This role is suited to an individual who is looking to gain experience in planning, supporting and delivering events and engagement activity.
The individual will play a key role in assisting our community roots engagement coordinator on a weekly basis to plan upcoming events including large events such as Sheffield Waterfront Festival in additional to smaller community sessions such as Let’s Paddle, Let’s Craft, Let’s Play Outdoors, Let’s Lockeep and much much more.
The individual will have half a day per week available to dedicate to the role and will get involved in administrative tasks, project planning as well as gain physical experience of event management and engagement.
The role would be well suited to a student or individual wanting to pursue a career in event management or community engagement. Ideally you will also have an interest in the Sheffield & Tinsley Canal and the benefits that activities by water can have on wellbeing.
We provide all the equipment and training needed, we just need your assistance to run some of the sessions for us.

What skills are we looking for?

To carry out this role, you’ll ideally have an interest in the waterway and/or the local area, but this is not essential.
What skills do you need?
• Keen interest in gaining event management experience
• Confident communication skills
• Strong IT Skills
• Comfortable and confident enough to assist with delivery of community sessions
• A passion for the canal environment/outdoors
• Consideration of safety when leading the activities
• Strong interpersonal skills
