Diglis Basin, Worcester & Birmingham Canal, Worcestershire
Diglis Basin marks the place where the Worcester & Birmingham Canal meets the River Severn. It receives many visitors, both boaters and pedestrians, who come to enjoy the activity and the atmosphere of this lively spot.
Diglis Lock Island is in the middle of the River Severn and is the site of the newly restored buildings forming part of the "Connect Worcester's Unlocking the Severn" project and will be the base for various activities including school visits and tours of the new fish pass.
We are looking for someone to improve and expand the planting area around the Basin and Island and to maintain the area under grass and shrubs. You will also be planting seeds and propagating plants for the area.
It's an ideal opportunity for someone who has experience, creativity and enthusiasm for gardening and would like to take on a bigger project.
You will have the chance to use your creativity and develop gardening projects in a public situation. You may even learn new skills in gardening and grounds maintenance.
You will need to have some knowledge and skills in gardening and have a hands-on approach. You will need to be flexible in working alone or with others. We are looking for someone locally based and who is available to work at least one day a week.
