What's involved?

We are currently looking to recruit energetic and enthusiastic volunteers to help us deliver our award-winning service throughout the year at the Anderton Boat Lift.
We need people that have an interest in learning and a passion for history to deliver our bespoke tours to our thousands of visitors each year. This role involves public speaking to large groups and would suit someone of an outgoing and socially confident nature. It’s also important you also have a head for heights, as you could be presenting our history from 50ft in the air! It’s about offering something fun and memorable to all visitors as the public face of the Canal & River Trust, answering any questions and encouraging them to return to our waterways and tell their friends about us.
Responsibilities will include:
Meeting and greet our coach parties.
Developing and delivering speeches and tours to groups and families including our award-winning Top of the World Tours.

What's in it for you?

Becoming part of a friendly and dedicated team, volunteering in a beautiful environment, meeting people and making new friends, improving communication skills and enjoying new experiences to name a few, along with a real personal satisfaction that you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to our visitors’ experience.
Talking to and answering questions from our visitors about the Anderton Boat Lift and its history.

What skills are we looking for?

The role will suit people who have a friendly enthusiastic manner and enjoy working with visitors. This role involves public speaking, and so someone who is confident with a thirst and a passion for knowledge would be ideal. This role can sometimes be physically demanding, and you may be on your feet all day. No skills are required, but we are looking for positive outgoing people to be the face of The Trust. You will be required to attend an interview as part of the selection process, and full training will be given.
