I have lots of fun creating new habitats for the wildlife and meeting new people.

What's involved?

If you are keen to support the maintenance of your local waterway and help promote the Trust, then why not come along and join the Thursday Workparty group. Our volunteers undertake low maintenance tasks with support from our local operations team that include lock painting, repairing towpaths, rebuilding walls and putting in new steps as well as keeping the canals clean and tidy.

Various locations on the Worcester, Birmingham and Droitwich ring as they have close proximity and interact with each other.

What skills are we looking for?

Whilst there are no specific skills required to get involved in this opportunity it is useful to have some practical knowledge and an enthusiasm to undertake practical tasks is a bonus. All safety procedures and work instructions will be given on the day so you just need to be willing to get stuck in. Please wear outdoor clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and sturdy footwear. We look forward to seeing you.

What will you get from us?

Join a friendly bunch of volunteers, some with years of experience, some who are fresh to the canals. Learn new skills and help sustain the canal for local people. If you would like to have a taster session prior to joining the group on a regular basis or are only able to offer your support on an ad hoc basis let us know and we will accommodate you on one of the regular sessions. Please contact the volunteer leader, Dafydd Jones to discuss; [email protected]
