What's involved?

Macclesfield Canal Society have adopted a stretch of canal in Congleton, working with the Trust to actively care for and improve this area. They meet on the fourth Thursday of the month in the car park of the Queens Head public house near Congleton Station at 10am (unless indicated by email prior to event). The work can entail a mixture of tasks that vary on a week to week basis but include, litter picking, minor towpath repairs, light vegetation clearance, planting of trees and shrubs and maintenance and painting of canal side furniture. Details of the dates planned in the near future can be found on their website link.

What skills are we looking for?

There are no specific skills needed but the Society welcomes a range of skills if you're willing to give them.

What will you get from us?

The Canal Society is a friendly bunch of people who always welcome new members. It's a chance to meet like-minded people making a difference in their community. These volunteering days are outside and a great way to enjoy the environment, keep fit and meet new people. Please wear clothing that you don't mind getting dirty and sturdy footwear.
