Canal Walk Leader Volunteer, Greater Manchester
Starts: 22 June 2021
Fancy leading walks along the canals in Greater Manchester? Walking is a great way to meet new people and improve your mental and physical health. More people are visiting our towpaths than ever before and we are looking for people who would feel confident leading small groups on a guided walk along the canal as part of our new Let’s Walk programme. We are looking for friendly people who can commit to at least 1 to 2 walks per month.
Volunteers will receive an induction and on-going training so even if you have not led walks before, this could be the ideal opportunity for you. The Trust will provide clothing and equipment and offers reasonable out of pocket expenses.
What's in it for you?
This is a great opportunity to be active outdoors whilst also learning new skills and meeting new people. You will be volunteering for a charity that is committed to making a difference locally, giving people from the community opportunities to enjoy the urban waterways on their doorstep.
It is scientifically proven that being by water makes you happier and healthier, we hope this role will allow you to both increase your own wellbeing as well as encouraging others to improve theirs.
What skills are we looking for?
Ideally you will have a hands-on approach, a can-do attitude and work well with others. We are looking for volunteers that are confident chatting with the public and working with people from all backgrounds
As a walk leader you will have a responsible attitude to health and safety and be happy lead activities outdoors with other people.
