We are looking for people with experience of working with children and a love of canals and rivers.
We are presently recruiting education volunteers to be based at Fradley Junction, which is at the junction of the Trent & Mersey Canal and the Coventry Canal.

About the role;
We presently have a small team of education volunteers who deliver school and group visits to Fradley Junction and classroom workshops in schools. The team also lead family Learning events during school holidays. We would like to expand this team of volunteers, enabling us to work with more schools, groups and families.

What's in it for you?

We provide you with training and the resources to deliver inspiring visits with children about our waterways. You will have the support of an education officer as well as the other volunteers in your team.

Canal & River Explorers volunteers deliver themed workshops in schools and on the towpath, linked to the National Curriculum. We provide workshops for uniformed groups linked to their badges and deliver an exciting family events program.

What skills are we looking for?

For roles working with children we are looking for volunteers who have
. Previous experience of working with children in a school or uniformed group environment
. The desire to work outdoors
. The confidence to deliver inspiring workshops with groups of children
. The ability to enthuse young people through practical activities
. The ability to volunteer flexibly
. The ability to drive to different locations
. The ability to work independently and within a team

For this volunteer role, we are looking for volunteers who are available during week days, within term time, some evenings and at weekends, if desired.

This role involves regulated activity with children and adults at risk, as defined by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Therefore, an Enhanced Criminal Record check will be undertaken and references will be sought. A criminal record is not necessarily a bar to volunteering with us.
