Join us and help inspire children and young people in their local history, engineering, waterways and habitats.
Join our fantastic team of education volunteers based at the Anderton Boat Lift. Our education volunteers lead visits for primary school groups and make sure every aspect of a visit runs smoothly, from greeting the coach at the beginning of the day to waving goodbye at the end. We are looking for volunteers who can support our education programme by working with other team members to deliver interactive education sessions focusing on history, art and science to children mainly aged 7 – 11 years old. This role requires you to commit to between 3 and 4 days per month during school hours.
This role also includes outreach activties in schools - mainly water safety assemblies during the winter months when the Boat Lift is closed.
What skills are we looking for?
For roles working with children we are looking for volunteers who have

This role involves regulated activity with children and adults at risk, as defined by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Therefore, an Enhanced Criminal Record check will be undertaken and references will be sought. A criminal record is not always a bar to volunteering with us.
What will you get from us?
We give you full training and provide resources for leading groups of children through a number of training days and team meetings. You will have the support of an education coordinator as well as the other volunteers in your team. We reimburse you for all travel costs.
