What's involved?

Join a new team of education volunteers based at Finsley Gate Wharf in Burnley. We're looking for volunteers to lead school groups on waterside visits and deliver outreach workshops in the classroom. All of our sessions are designed to inspire young people in heritage and geography of the local area as well as links to science and wildlife.

What's in it for you?

The opportunity to learn more about waterway heritage and wildlife; using your skills and learning new ones; being in an attractive environment and of course working with children!

We'll provide you with resources and full training on how to lead groups of children. You'll also have the support of a Learning & Skills Coordinator as well as the other volunteers in your team and we'll reimburse you for all travel costs.

What skills are we looking for?

For volunteers working with children we are looking for:
• Previous experience of working with young children
• The desire to work outdoors.
• The confidence to talk to, and lead workshops with, groups of children.
• The ability to enthuse young people through talks and activities.

This role involves regulated activity with children and adults at risk, as defined by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Therefore, an Enhanced Criminal Record check will be undertaken and references will be sought. A criminal record is not always a bar to volunteering with us.

We'd love to hear from you if you're interested in finding out more about this opportunity. If you apply for more info (below) we will get in touch soon with further details. Thank you!
