What's involved?
Come and join our Towpath Taskforce ADDRESS. As a Towpath Taskforce Volunteer you will help to support your local historic canal by cutting back overgrown vegetation, clearing paths, collecting litter, planting and generally tidying up; helping to create a stunning first impression to visitors. All tools and equipment will be provided, together with expert and friendly support. We will be delighted to see you there!
If you do not receive an invite to join us please still do feel free to come along, the more the merrier!
Please note that under 18's must have a guardian present throughout the session. This event is not for corporate groups, if you would like to book a time for a corporate day out please head to our corporate volunteering pages.
We welcome people of all abilities & backgrounds to our sessions. Our team have taken part in disability awareness workshops and are happy to help but due to the canals natural environment and exiting pathways, not all of our sessions are accessible for people with mobility needs. Please get in touch with us if you would like to talk about how we can support you to volunteer with us.
What skills are we looking for?
No experience is required, you just need to be willing to get stuck in and maybe get a bit dirty. All safety procedures and work instructions will be given on the day. Please wear old clothes appropriate for the weather conditions, protective and sturdy footwear with no open toed shoes. Please bring water, a snack, and a smile!
What will you get from us?
It's a great way to meet other local volunteers and the Trust's Volunteer team, learn new practical skills, hear about other volunteer opportunities or just spend a few hours outdoors improving your local waterway environment.
