We are looking for conscientious individuals with a keen eye for detail and an interest in public safety to assist with regular risk assessments of our customer operated structures, which include swing bridges, lift bridges and locks. The role will involve visiting sites across the region to assess the condition of the structure from a visitor’s perspective and update our documentation. Some assessments will be first-time assessments where we have no previous records, and others will be re-assessment visits looking for any significant changes since the last visit occurred. We have opportunities region-wide, so if you are happy to travel, great, or alternatively we can tailor the opportunity to be closer to home for the right candidates.
Up-to half a day per site visit will be required, with associated write-up time following the site visit expected to be a further half day. Full training will be given, and your first site visit will be an accompanied one to ensure you are happy to
This is a great way of visiting parts of our navigation that you may not have seen before, or even know exist. Helping us to make sure our customers are safe and enjoy their visits to our canals. Take in the fresh air and help with an important part of the Trust's regular work.
Previous experience of undertaking risk assessments or/and a background in health and safety is preferrable. Newly qualified safety professionals seeking experience would also make ideal candidates.
