Volunteer Paddlesport Instructor - Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal

The Trust is looking to recruit and train Volunteer Paddlesport Instructors to help deliver its “Activity on The Water” Programme. This will involve organising and delivering regular canoeing activities on The Mon & Brec Canal. The project will focus on delivering activities in Pontymoile, Gilwern & Talybont. Working alongside two other Paddlesport Instructors and the Trust's Events Coordinator, you will promote, organise and deliver the activities. It is also important to evaluate sessions and act on feedback in order to improve the “Let’s Canoe” activities.

The Paddlesport Instructor course is run over 4 days (23rd-24th Aug & 13th-14th Sep) and covers all the necessary skills you will need to deliver a fun and safe session.

What skills are we looking for?
To carry out this role, you’ll ideally have previous canoeing experience. Current or expired qualifications such as British Canoeing Paddle Sport Leader / Instructor / Explorer would be ideal, though not essential.
Previous experience of organising or leading groups beneficial.
Previous experience of working with children beneficial.
Able to communicate confidently to individuals or groups.
An enthusiasm for canoeing and/or outdoor activities.
A driving license and experience of towing trailers is beneficial, though not essential
