Explorers Education Volunteer - Foxton Locks

We run hands on activities and visits with school, cub & brownie groups either on/by our waterways or in their classroom/clubhouse. All of our sessions are designed to inspire young people in heritage and geography of their local area as well as containng useful links to science, wildilfe or creative arts.
What's in it for you?
We provide you with resources and full training on how to lead groups of children at this specific location as well as in a more traditional classroom environment. You will have the support of an education officer as well as the other volunteers in your team. We reimburse travel costs.
What skills are we looking for?
For roles working with children we are looking for volunteers who have
. Previous experience of working with children
. The desire to work outdoors
. The confidence to talk to, and deliver workshops with groups of children
. The ability to enthuse young people through practical activities
. The ability to volunteer flexibly
. The ability to drive to different locations
. The ability to work independently or within a team
This role involves regulated activity with children and adults at risk, as defined by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Therefore, an Enhanced Criminal Record check will be undertaken and references will be sought. A criminal record is not necessarily a bar to volunteering with us.
