We love and care for your canals and rivers, because everyone deserves a place to escape.
Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Sections – they’re all out there caring for their canal and learning along the way too.
The Girlguiding Leeds group look after the area around Lock 1 of the Aire & Calder Navigation in Leeds.
Being outdoors and getting involved in the community is at the heart of Girlguiding. So looking after their canal is the perfect way to get everyone involved.
Girlguides of all ages have learnt so much about water safety while working on the canals. They’ve even been painting over graffiti, weeding, litter picking and planting flowers. And they’ve had more than 350 girls and 100 volunteers to help!
It’s been the perfect partnership and they hope to do even more with us, getting together with other groups and organising events around the canal. It all adds up to an even more of a positive impact on the community.
You bet! It’s given them not only a sense of achievement, but it’s been fun and fulfilling too!
They’re happy to work with other groups, so if you want to get in touch, just pop an email across – email@example.com
