Surrounded by lovely Northamptonshire countryside, Boddington Reservoir is an oasis of water, greenery and wildlife. Just the place for family walks and budding nature detectives.

Boddington is one the many lakes and reservoirs we own and look after to supply the water to our canals - in this case the Oxford and Grand Union Canals.

But where Boddington Reservoir excells is in its fishing. It's one of the South Midlands' top match venues, a 65-acre reservoir where you are virtually guaranteed a catch. Anglers return here time and time again.

Things to do and see

Places to eat:

While it's all about the picnics at the reservoir, the villages of Upper Boddington and Byfield are around half a mile away and offer a number of cafes and pubs

Picnic spot:

There are picnic benches around the reservoir and plenty of places to lay a picnic blanket down

Wildlife spotting:

Since the creation of the reservoir it has been gradually colonised by birds, insects and wild flowers. Look out for some more unusual wildlife: green woodpeckers, toads, grass snakes, gulls and, of course, our thriving fish population

Getting here

By car - there's a free car park at the reservoir
