Standedge Tunnel and Visitor Centre

Standedge Tunnel is the longest, deepest and highest canal tunnel to be built in Britain, it is nearly 3 1/2 miles long. It's one of the seven wonders of the waterways and a great family day out. You can explore deep into and under the Yorkshire moors on our family friendly boat trips.

The village of Marsden is a 15 min walk along the towpath.

Spot a boat

As well as our won boat trips, private boaters can take their boats through the tunnel on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays

    Families can enjoy a 30 min boat trip deep into the tunnel, 2 hour through the tunnel trips are also available on certain days
